Overview:
Harrisburg High School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Varsity Assistant Volleyball Coach to assist our girls’ volleyball team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the court, emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing practice plans that enhance the skill level and performance of the team.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Assist in executing game strategies, including player positioning and in-game adjustments.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, staff, and administration.
- Adhere to all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
- Knowledge of volleyball techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- Knowledge of OSAA rules and standards, District Coaches Handbook
- NFHS (or ASEP), Concussion Management, Climate Acclimation, Safe Schools, Steroid Education, CPR, and First Aid certification and training (or willingness to obtain).
Additional Opportunities:
This coaching position may also include a classified or licensed position within the Harrisburg School District, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Physical Skills Required:
- Stand/Walk/Sit: 4-6 hours
- Drive: 1-3 hours
- May use hands for repetitive:
- Single grasping
- Pushing and pulling
- Fine manipulation
- May need to: Bend, twist, squat, climb, lift, pull, push, reach__frequently
- Lifting: MEDIUM WORK: Lifting 50 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently, depending on student needs. Occasional sitting and frequent standing/walking with a degree of pushing and pulling.
