Note: This is a full-time position that is projected to operate within normal school day hours between 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM, each day during the school year; however, a part-time position could also be constructed if the circumstances warranted such an arrangement. Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays.

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking to fill a Floating Classified position. The duties and assignments will vary each day and will occur at the elementary, middle or high schools. Daily assignment and placement deemed to be the highest priority by the district or building administrator will take precedent. The person filling the floating classified role must be willing to perform any duty associated with the following positions: Student Support Assistant, Educational Assistant, Food Service Support, and Custodial. All positions are essential to the daily operations of our district and provide vital support to our students.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements (Educational Assistant):
- Assist teachers in the classroom by supervising students in groups or individually or as directed by the teacher.
- Assist students to stay on task and carry out instructions.
- Monitor study hall, detention and lunchroom.
- Supervises large groups of children at recess and lunch ensuring safety and security at all times.
- Assists with loading and unloading children from buses, transitioning students from classroom to lunchroom, music, recess, library, etc.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements (Student Support Assistant):
- Assist teachers in the classroom by supervising students in groups or individually or as directed by the teacher.
- Assist students to stay on task and carry out instructions.
- Manage student behavior across settings using consistent and positive intervention strategies under the direction of the teacher and/or supervisor.
- Apply IEP requirements, understand IEP goals and keep IEP records when assigned.
- Utilize restraint training and behavior management with positive strategies
- Provide toileting assistance to students when applicable.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements (Custodial):
- Cleans, restocks, and maintains auxiliary custodial areas with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Cleans and sanitizes areas (i.e., classrooms, halls, offices, restrooms, cafeteria, etc.), vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, scrubs, waxes, polishes, mops, and buffs all types of floor surfaces.
- Sets up, takes down, and moves tables, chairs, equipment, shelving, and partitions for meetings, athletic events, and other District functions, as assigned, including weekend events.
- Collects and empties all recycling and waste containers in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Washes, scrubs, and disinfects restrooms as well as cleans sinks, fixtures, panels, and drinking fountains daily.
- Performs a variety of basic maintenance duties including, but not limited to, unplugging sinks and painting.
- Cleans up spills (including bodily fluids) in a safe and appropriate manner.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements (Food Service):
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and managing inventory.
- Prepare food menu items and assist with special meal events.
- Set up/help serve breakfast and/or lunch at assigned school building.
- Assist cooperatively with all co-workers to meet preparation timelines.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, reliability, and a genuine interest in working with children.
- Positive attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
- Provide punctual and reliable attendance.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid food handlers license.
SALARY : Floating Classified Position $16.24 per hour
BENEFITS: Employer paid insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision premiums, employer paid Basic Life and AD&D policies. Two (2) days of personal leave, ten (10) days sick leave, seven (7) paid holidays, and PERS retirement contribution. Applicable benefits will be prorated for the remainder of the school year.
